In a recent interview, Blaine shared that he’s stepping back from dangerous performances this year due to superstition. “I’m 52 right now, and many magicians I admire, like Harry Houdini, passed away at this age,” Blaine explained. Houdini, known for his legendary escape acts, died at 52 from a ruptured appendix. Other magicians like Doug Henning and Scott Alexander also passed at the same age — which Blaine says is too much of a coincidence to ignore.

Taking a Safer Approach

David isn’t leaving magic altogether. His current show, Do Not Attempt, is streaming now on Disney+ and Hulu, where fans can still enjoy his illusions — just with less risk.

He also continues his live residency at the Wynn Las Vegas, which he plans to keep improving for fans. Blaine describes his process as slow, thoughtful, and always backed by a strong safety team. “I take baby steps. I become fully passionate and focused before even thinking about doing anything risky,” he shared.

He says his most meaningful possessions include his late mother’s journals and a small book made by his daughter that says, “God is love.”
