Although their marriage ended in 1982, Weber said she naturally reaches out to him during this difficult time. “Our relationship is as close as it needs to be for two people who decided to divorce 40 years ago,” she noted.

Elizabeth Weber first met Joel while she was married to his best friend and former bandmate, Jon Small. Their relationship eventually became romantic, leading to the breakup of the band and a period of personal struggle for Joel.

After Weber’s divorce from Small, she and Joel reconnected and married in 1973. They spent nearly ten years together before separating in 1982. Joel later married Christie Brinkley in 1985, cookbook author Katie Lee in 2004, and Alexis Roderick in 2015.
